Low Scoring Week Meets Near Perfect

In the first week of conference play we see our lowest scoring week of the season so far. Through that we were one night game away from a perfect score. Matt N. was 9-0 entering the Pac12 After Dark matchup and was surely furiously refreshing gamecast as no one was actually able to watch the Washington game. But he came up just short of perfect to go 9-1 for 46 points and win Week 5 and gain the latest automatic bid to the Wild Card. James V. takes home 2nd place and Rich A. rounds out the top 3 for the week. We have just 4 weeks remaining for everyone to make their Wild Card moves before that kicks off. Our 9 weekly winners and 31 next highest season scorers will make it! But if you aren’t in the hunt, don’t worry you can still win the Weekly and compete for overall season!

Some trends and highlights from the week:

  • In a low scoring week you would expect the top picked teams to not have covered, and that stayed mostly true for this week with 2 of the top 3 picked teams failing to cover. Washington (657) and Georgia (507) both held on to win but in close games, while Michigan (532) was our top covering pick as they rolled all game long.

  • On the flipside of that we had two teams cover with under 100 total points placed on them. Auburn (93) and Arizona (29) both showed up for their top 10 opponents and nearly pulled out a win, but remember, good teams win but great teams cover.

  • Probably the biggest flip of the week came in the College Gameday matchup. As Notre Dame (487) not only scored a TD to go ahead with 30 seconds left, but converted the 2pt conversion to also cover their number.
