Off We Go

We are so back and it is both full of pain and glory. As is tradition, once the initial email goes out on Thursday we have some stragglers who wanted to get their beaks wet reach out and find their seat at the table. We are 107 strong entering this 2024 season with winning chances galore and heartbreak aplenty.

The sights and sounds are one of the best things about the sport, but even better is seeing a spread like the one below. No where else but college, baby.

As slow as the season felt to get here, it felt over for some people just as fast. Especially if you are an ACC fan.

And then there is Florida State who thought they could be the one to save DJU.

Our noon slate was headlined by two ACC duds, so much so that WVU and Penn State delayed their game so we could all bask in the awfulness that is the new ACC. But one thing that we have solace in is that as long as Billy Napier is in the state of Florida the ACC has a chance.

The night slate brought in some fun matchups a good early tests for big names. Notre Dame came out hot and never really looked back. With one of their 2 hard games out of the way already that playoff is looking closer and closer for the Irish.

The rest of our night games played out with interesting fashion as well. Michigan still doesn’t know who is their quarterback and Hawaii on the big island is still a force to be reckoned with, Timmy Chang has those boys back in line.

We capped off our week with the special Sunday night game between two offenses trying to replace Heisman winning quarterbacks. And quite frankly, we all should have known how this game was going to go the second that USC started hiring blockbuster level editors to produce their hype videos.

Both offenses are definitely working to rebuild what they had, but one thing will always be true. If you root for Brian Kelly, you feel like this at least once a week.

And that will wrap up our Week 1 slate. Travis B. takes 1st place with 46 points and Justin S. locks up 2nd place. Both will earn an autobid entry to the Wild Card playoff which will kick off and run from Weeks 11-15. 40 will make it, two will be rewarded for it.

We are onto week 2! To vote for which games you would like to see in the Pick Em you can do so here: Week 2 Poll
