Tom S. Wins Week 7 Behind Big Early Start

It was an interesting breakdown between points and records this week. We had 25 people score more than 30 points which is the 2nd highest total of the season, but there were only 8 people with a record 7-3 or above which is the 3rd fewest. A lot of 5-5 records helped this out with a large majority of 9s and 10s getting covered on one game. Tom S. won his 6-10 in the first 5 games of the week and used that to cruise to victory even with a 2-3 back half record. His 47 points held the majority of the combos left in the end, and he takes the 7th Wild Card automatic bid. With 2 weeks left to secure your spot the Wild Card is getting really tight. 17 people are within 10 points of the cut line and it only takes 1 big week to either secure or lose your spot. See your standing here. Week 7 trends and tidbits below:

  • Alabama (497) seems to be the top headline each week and this was no different. They almost replicated their historic pick week from Week 6 by getting 65 out of 70 picks this week for far and away the most points. Unlike last week where they lost outright, they cruised by Miss State (26) this week.

  • The spreads from Vegas continue to miss on most games this year. Only 2 of the 10 games ended up being within 7 points of the original spread. Those being Kentucky (232) and Oklahoma (256).

  • The lowest picked team to cover was from the biggest upset of the week as Purdue (51) only had 12 people on their side as they upset #2 Iowa (391).

  • With an even spread in the game 10 slot their wasnt an official underdog to continue the trend, but if you want to go by rankings and picks in our pool, Utah (68) certainly felt like a home dog as they upset the fighting Herm’s at Arizona State (244).
