2021 Week 8 Results
Nick L. Flirts With Perfection, Takes Week 8 Title.
What a week he had for ourselves in the Pickem. There were 6 people with a perfect bid going into our last timeslot this weekend. At the end of the day none of those 6 could pull it off, but we had 6 people end up going 9-1, a new record. We still are chasing the first-ever perfect 10-0 week in this pool’s history! In addition to that, we had 31 people score more than 40 points this week. For comparison, the 2nd highest week of 40+ entries was Week 6 with 14, and the next highest after that was 2 weeks tied at 6 people. So one of the highest-scoring weeks in pool history. At the end of it, Nick L. was able to earn the top spot going 9-1 with a whopping 53 points. With just 1 week left to secure your spot in the Wild Card things are getting hot. A ton of people still alive with how quickly 1 week can swing it for you! Even through all the chaos, our top 3 overall for the season held their places securely as well. Standings Here. Week 8 trends and tidbits below:
In 9 out of 10 games this week the team that was chosen by more people in the Pickem ended up covering. The only less picked team was Oregon State (131) with 34 picks to Utah’s (168) 35 picks.
In that same game, Oregon State (131) continued our trend of home underdogs in the 10th game slot winning outright.
Alabama (332) once again took the spot for most picked team, tho not by much this week. As they used a huge 4th quarter to pull away and eventually cover that game against Tennessee (75).
Our next three highest bid teams also naturally covered in their games with Wake Forest (277) used 70 points to help in their game, Oklahoma State (274) used all of their +6.5 spread to cover despite losing their perfect season, and Notre Dame (280) held on late to cover against a sleepy USC (131).
