2022 Week 1 Individual Results

Off To The Races In Week 1

We are through Week 1 of the season and with the results from the week it would feel like its already Week 11. We had tiebreakers, close finishes, and it all came down to the final Monday game and the last points scored were the difference. At the end of it though, we had 1 clear winner. Chris H. is our first weekly winner and Wild Card entrant on the season after a 7-3 week finishing with 44 points! For our new 2nd place matchup, it came down to a tie between Jon R. and Matt M. which gave us our first RPS tiebreaker implementation. Jon R. threw out Paper while Matt M. went with the trusty Rock which means Jon R. takes the 2nd place Weekly prize.

Across the board it was a fairly even week as the best record was 7-3 and the worst was just one 2-8, but everyone was in double digits for their points.

Now some weekly trends from the last week:

  • If you have been around before you know that the highest bid confidence point teams often don’t actually cover and this week the trend started somewhat. Our three teams receiving 400+ confidence points went 1-2 ATS. NC State (416) and LSU (460) both failed to cover while our largest bid team Clemson (517) covered late in a game that seemed like they were going to fall short.

  • True home teams went 7-1 ATS this week with the only true road team to cover being Notre Dame (218) in the horseshoe. The Sunday and Monday games saw ‘road’ teams cover but they were both neutral site games technically.

  • In a rare event, Georgia (264) had more confidence points assigned to them than their opponent, Oregon (221) even though they were picked 6 less times than Oregon. This also happened to Oregon State (180) versus Boise State (166).
