2023 Week 3 Results
Dredging Through The Mud
Back-to-back high-performing weeks in the Pickem as we hit the 54% mark as a group for the 2nd straight week. High enough performing that we had someone go 9-1 and not finish in the top 5 for the week. Showing once again how confidence point placement is always critical. We had just one person break the 50 point mark this week though as Liam B. went 8-2 for 50 points to win the week and lock in his Wild Card slot. A big win after a couple of slow weeks to start, Liam was in 91st entering the week showing the Wild Card is always within reach for anyone. Right behind him going 8-2 for 48 points was Zach M. and in 3rd place we had a RPS showdown between Sam B. and Samuel F. the battle of the Sam’s. Samuel F. through out a Rock and Sam B. promptly covered it up with a paper giving Sam B. the 3rd place spot. We head into a LOADED week next week with a tight spread all through the standings board!

Some weekly notes and trends:
Prime time makes it a back to back week performance of being the highest public pick in what seems like football history. But again for the 2nd week in a row they were not our highest picked team. That title goes to Penn State (618) this week as they held onto a backdoor push to cover in their big win. Colorado (612) put on a hell of a show for the world again, just not in a covering fashion as they won tight in double OT even with their -24.5 spread.
Oddly enough we had 3 games with what felt like the exact same point spread on them this week. UNC (374), Washington (379), and Tennessee (375) all were the favorite and heavier-picked teams in their games. UNC and Washington took care of business handily, while Tennessee got steamrolled down in the Swamp as Florida (253) won outright.
In Athens this week we had a bit of a confidence point discrepancy. South Carolina (243) seemed to be the lesser picked team going into Georgia (339) with almost a 100 point difference in confidence. However, South Carolina was actually picked 53 times compared to Georgia’s 52 picks. UGA pickers were confident and sadly incorrect as South Carolina kept it close enough.
