2024 Week 3 Results

Pain.

Boy have we found our death week. Every season brings a couple weeks where chaos truly reigns and only those who scrape through find success. In our slate this week we had zero 10, 9, or 8 win entries and just seven 7 win entries across the entire pool. And none of those 7 win entries even placed in our top 2 of the week. It was an ugly slate with some heated rivalries, and it led to some ugly results. Only three home teams covered all week and all three of them were home dogs. Let’s take a look into some of the shenanigans we got ourselves into this past Saturday.

The early slate opened up with three very different games on the board. Alabama had a road test against a streaky Wisconsin team. Though when Tyler Van Dyke went down on Wisconsin’s first drive of the game it was just about done from the start. The below was about how the entire game went for Wisconsin.

Heading into our first of two games being played in a Columbia this week, LSU and SC put on one of the better shootout shows of the week. The day started out on a bit on an interesting note as SC decided to take away the largest branding element of the coolest player on their team.

Which seemed great until well….

Sad ending for Cocks fans, but they held on for the cover and as they say, good teams win but great teams cover.

Then comes the powerhouse game we all expected would be the premier matchup and our only ranked game: BC @ Mizzou. Mizzou came in having not allowed a point all season and a top 10 preseason team and BC came in having beaten Florida State to get their ranking. But Bill O’Brien is showing why he is still a top tier coach. It was a close game for almost the whole time, with Mizzou having one real chance to get into a covering position until, well, this happened.

The afternoon slate gave us 3 long-held rivalries getting renewed and then another chance for Billy Napier to keep building the Florida fan base as his own personal rival.

Florida looks to be in real trouble and that remaining schedule isn’t doing any favors at all.

The Ducks finally got out of Idaho and figured out that they can play football.

While our other PNW rivalary took one step closer to rebuilding the Pac 12 fully.

And our last kickoff of the afternoon slate was our game of the week with the backyard brawl. Simply put, this game ruled. Back and forth all game, electric crowd, great uniforms, awesome comeback. This is what we do it for. Pitt came back at the end and is starting to build a little bit of a never say die attitude around that program.

The first night game of the slate had an interesting but familiar start to the week.

UGA has almost more arrests in the last 2 years than points vs Kentucky in the last 4 years.

The Big 10 was up next for the night slate and UCLA may already be considering rejoining the Pac 12 after the start to their season. Indiana was on them early and often and the UCLA coach may have been right at B1G media day when all he said about the team was “We’re from LA.”

And then we get to our old friend’s over in Boulder, CO. With a trip to in-state rival on the docket it started like this:

And here is how it went:

Colorado State talked about as much trash as anyone could have and then proceeded to back up exactly none of it. The Buffs keep chugging forward to Big 12 play and should be another wild ride of a year for Travis Hunter and co.

And that will conclude our Week 3 slate. Rob M. takes 1st place over Jarrod P. as they both tie for 41 points but Paper covers Rock and that pushes Rob M. to the 1st overall spot in the weekly competition. Both will earn an autobid entry to the Wild Card playoff which will kick off and run from Weeks 11-15. 40 will make it, two will be rewarded for it.
